The Shepherd and His Sheep

Questions:

  1. The Pharisees saw themselves as the shepherds of Israel.  In what ways does Jesus disabuse them of this notion?
  2. Jesus declares himself to be the gate for the sheep.  Why is this significant?
  3. Then Jesus declares that he is the good shepherd.  How does he define a ‘good’ shepherd?  In what ways are the Pharisees not ‘good’ shepherds?
  4. Being referred to as sheep is not necessarily a compliment.  In what ways should we embrace our “sheepliness”?
  5. What does knowing Jesus as the Good Shepherd mean for us in our daily walk with God?
